Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I could easily eat both of those. I love almost all kind of cheese... just not Rocheford (Blue mold cheese). My throat refuses to swallow it, just like some people can´t swallow a pill. My dad hated it too, for a reason. As a very young lad, he was at a dentist....who hadnt washed his fingers after eating Blue mold cheese. YIKES !!!

Not a great lover of cheese, I don't do sweet & savoury.

Rustic wood, beautiful pottery, perfect pastry, and gorgeous cheese. Simple, but wonderfully layered. A wholly satisfying shot!

As Tara said, "A wholly satisfying shot!" Of course it would be more satisfying if I had eaten it all and could see the pretty plate. Can't find cheese like this here except in high-end specialty shops. I think I'll go have a snack now.

Snack, did I hear you say snack? I'm a snacking kind of guy. This looks delicious. Composition, light and texture...so appealing.

full size, we see all the translucent craters and veins in the cheese. It looks like marble! And that fruit thing (pastry?) looks luscious next to it. Semi hard, I assume? The two make a fine visual combo, on top of that plate, and a wooden table. Fine food shot, Andrea! It made me hungry too...And you know, in the States most people have never had the fine British cheddars: They have no idea. I've had a few---they're very expensive here, but lord they're other worldly. Nothing like 'm. But we do have towns, way up in Wisconsin and Vermont, where you find these local farmers who produce cheddars that never get further than the next town. You have to drive all the way up there---8 hours from Chicago---but when you taste their cheddars, you could die. You could just die. They're heaven. But no one will know it, because they never sell it anywhere else. They're strictly local delicacies...
