Description
King Arthur's sword has had many names; originally Caledfwlch in the earliest Welsh tales, morphing through time into Caliburn, Escalibor and the modern version, Excalibur. There are also many tales told of it, with the (slightly erroneous) story of the sword in the stone being popularised in more modern times. However, some early versions of the tale (and the ones I grew up with) tell that the sword in the stone was the sowrd of kingship, Clarent, with Excalibur being bestowed on Arthur at a later date by the Lady of the Lake.
Literary debates aside, here's a scene rendered in DS3 without postwork. Its based loosely on several victorian illustrations of the scene, rather than the one often described in the literature with just the Lady's hand emerging from the water bearing the sword aloft. The water's not quite as I would like but I hit a bit of a brick wall with DS3... I may have another go at it in the future if time allows.
(the background image, btw is Blackwater Lake in Ontario, taken around 5 am one misty summer moring as i was off to catch breakfast!)

Some persons post too many images, no one knows why, given the mediocre quality of those images...where you're concerned, I'd say you post too little images ! This most recent is a good example of your talent and of your culture...if I add your comments on my "Cleopatra" image (many thanks in passing), I'd say you're a clever historian.
