Description
General Robert E Lee still in a controversy, after so many years since the Civil war ended on April 9, 1865.
people want the statues removed from public property so Confederate ideology will not be continued to be an everyday presence.
there were many police there at the park, because of numerous protests over the Southern United States, about the statues not being on public property. a group on joggers went by with one carrying a US flag. the area of the statue had metal barriers around the statue, because the company that is removing it is waiting for a crane to arrive.
I use to pass by this park numerous times and painted an office building across the street around 1988. I also worked in high rise condominiums on near by streets. it maybe gone by Monday

Beautiful photo. Sad thing is, once these ANTIFA thugs have succeeded with removing all Civil War statues, they will have to find another purpose for their existence - so, what will they declare "fascist" and destroy next? Man, can't ANYONE stop these culture vandals?

I have a few books on the US Civil War and loved the Ken Burns documentary when it aired on PBS several years ago. I've been eager to purchase a Civil War book by Shelby Foote who passed away a few years ago...
