when you first posted this, I was 'hit' by your use of deep reds. You use hues very expressively, and you know how to use saturated hues, as well as muted and 'misty' hues. Now that I'm seeing this a 2d time, I'm aware of the bronze-yellow hues too---on the people and the huts in the background. I love that you rendered one of the women on her knees, probably from hunger. Very expressive. And you have a native woman too, with a tribal animal's head. And faint mountains in your deep red background. (It's as if this is on Mars!) The rescue people look like real soldiers, too. A very evocative image, and your light and color is terrific.
