Description
Soon, too soon....
Soon this will be what my work place will look like. I have just signed the paper for termination of my employment at the KMH-school (Swedish School of Complementary Medicine). This silly old T.Rex is turning 67 million years old on October 7, and is thus no longer employable.
I started at the school in 1993 and helped build up Sweden's best and only education in medical massage therapy. Since then, several schools have copied the name, but not the quality or content. The education came to be under the Swedish government's vocational college system for 3 years. Unfortunately, thereafter, applicants expected a free education, and the school went economically down hill when that was no longer forthcoming.
Another problem was when the head mistress / owner turned the school over to her son, who discovered the reason for repeated near bankruptcy was due to his sister and her live-in siphoning off money for their own purposes. They were fired, whereupon they sued for a large sum. The crooked legal system awarded them the money despite their embezzlement of school funds. The school property was then put on auction and purchased by the son at considerable expense. With all the turmoil, teachers left. And no money meant delayed salaries. To save money, some staff was fired, too, resulting in more law suites.
Finally, I am / was the only full time employed person - acting as secretary, janitor, and so on.... And now I'm retired as of October 7, 2017. Not fun.
So, now I have to figure out how to get my laptop to function at home. A question of space. And IF my home computer can be fixed at all. I must have compatibility with WinXP and Vista as I have a lot of expensive software I can't afford to buy again!
So, if I'm rare at Rendo, you'll know why!
The empty chair in the thumb nail is symbolic of my departure. It is in front of the desk of an 80 year old colleague who was diagnosed with cancer a short while ago. She feels physically OK, but is psychologically a mess. I'm trying to support her while also trying to figure out how to handle the 6 students in her course (I don't have competence to teach it). The school has no money to reimburse them if she should become unable to complete their 5 day course.
Though the situation is deplorable, I still say "Cheers!" to you all, and hope to remain on line despite the situation!
Summer says "Hi!"
T.Rex says "Hi!"

sad situation really for you, the school and for the people who really wanted to learn. We'll leave a light on for you, to guide you home.

It's always hard to leave when it's not your choice. And it seems that government all over the world really screws up the educational system when they get to involved. I love that you've been enjoying my photos at your office! You will find your place in this s next phase. Just give it time.

Damn... What a sad way to end a brilliant career. You are in my thoughts and prayers, brother. Looks like this kind of injustice and corruption is a global phenomenon - I thought it was just here in the states!
I'm 68 (69 in another month), and I have one week left in my working life - but it was my choice to retire. Being forced out after all those years of hard work and loyalty due to someone else's greed and selfishness is just unforgivable Best of luck to you, my friend. Maybe you should send Summer and her frying pan over to do some karma with the owners.
Hope all works out for you, buddy. There is always hope!

Keep belief in yourself, I think there will always be work for those who are experienced and willing to help others which is what your career has been.

I have been retired for 11 years now. I really miss the very good money, but to be rid of the problems of self employment is/was a huge relief. I hope something may materialize for an opportunity to find some employment for you
