Description
This is a Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis).
5 to 8" in length.
Usually green, but in seconds can change to brown or intermediate depending on what color object it is on. Basking anoles are typically brown.
The males have an extensible pink to red throat fan which they inflate to attract females or warn other males to keep their distance.
Adults prefer shaded perches. Juveniles prefer sunnier locations closer to the ground.

Thanks for the beautiful photo. I love these. My brother and I had one in 1963 - she lived a year. Changed colors as needed. Was nice to hold and to pet. We really missed her after she crossed the rainbow bridge, but did not get another one. Mother hated having meal worms in the refrigerator though she liked our anole. Keep up the good work! :-)
