Description
Greetings,
On another gloomy and damp Duxford Airshow (Shuttleworth has had 8 sunny ones on the trot, its 10 miles away!), I wondered.
An airshow full of the same aircraft as the same show kind of loses its glow. I found the newly restored Sector Control Room.
This is just as it was during the Battle of Britain, while 'The Big Wing' flew from here, and other local fields.
It is also the 100th Anniversary of Duxford being built. 1919. Yes really.
And there are building there from then still.
Sorry about the grainy picture.
Rob

Real aviation history here straight out of the Battle of Britain and Leigh-Mallory's "big wing." Great pic.

Cool! Simple construction but very functional. Interesting with the raised floor, like in other war rooms in the UK. Thanks for the photo. A lot to learn here. Not to forget the map table visible to the crew on the raised floor. Keep up the good work! By the way, see any ducks at Duxford, or was it too wet for them? :-)

It was the legless Wing Commander Douglas Bader that taught me you could look at the sun's fringe for boogies if you blotted the disc with your thumb. This is a peek into who held him in awe.
