Mrs. W has been on my case for a long time about replacing the '98 Honda CR-V. I liked it a lot, reliable, cheap to run, comfy enough to commute in, and so what if the back has dead tree parts left in from that run to the landfill, eh? It was perfect. The body was in very decent condition and whenever I pulled into the lot at work, all the Beemers, Mercs, and other fancy cars would edge over 6 inches. Easy to park. Then I noticed that it's getting cranky on hot days and I looked down at the odometer to see this ... OK, not a record, but I really don't need another car with "HISTORIC" plates on it (Current Ancient One is a '94 Olds Bravada with 198,700+ miles on it... and comfy as all heck and still cheap to run.). Oh the Check Engine light had lost all meaning. It came on the first year we acquired this car in San Antonio and I skipped it across the water under an overpass during heavy rain. The car shuddered but kept going and the light has been playing peek-a-boo every since. I was waiting for it to burn out before the next VEIP inspection. (That's the MOT to the Brits out there.) I poked around a few lots, researched on line and pestered CARMAX a bit. Settled for a local NISSAN dealership who went the extra mile and got me what I thought I wanted: 2016 Frontier 4X4 (big hill out front) and I can clean the dead tree parts out with a leaf blower and a hose.... just like all my redneck neighbors do. Sometimes good ole boys get it right, eh? This one came from the lot with the standard Glen Burnie customization package: big ding in the tailgate that someone tried (unsuccessfully) to bang out and a boink in the bumper. All that gets repaired next week with the navigation system install. So, how's the ride? Great. Good sound system, comfy, and decent mileage. The ferrets like it too. Oh yes, Mrs. W is chuffed as well. Can't wait to get my DBF sticker on it. Enjoy; thanks for viewing and reading.
