Most of the doors in my house have these. As I age I sometimes have a problem turning them. Fortunately I mainly prefer to leave doors ajar so the dogs can get wherever they want. They are original from 1923 when the house was built. with a Topaz digifiddle Another Here

I've come to prefer levers to knobs, myself. However, these old knobs make for wonderful photographs!
