LOL, 1920s? Did they ever update this place? Can't say much of the outside--sort of dumpy. Wonder how the inside looks.

One of the great fears in the 20s was fire from nitrocellulose film in a crowded theater so they filled them with asbestos . so ti cost like heck to tear one down so they get repurposed around here one is a rock climbing school now

Very cool old theater, and a great shot of it, Richard! We made it into a few miles of Oklahoma along the Talimena Drive earlier this week.

love the slightly bleached quality to the light and color here...love how it brings out the age of the place. And the plain-ness of the facade and bricks, etc. You didn't do anything to make this prettier than it is: You let its plainness and age speak for itself. The road in front is empty and so adds to the sense of abandonment---even though the theater is clearly being used. And the curtained windows above speak of a time when this was probably a very lush place. Love the feeling of erased time in this: You took this like a photojournalist reporting on its age and history, with your slight angle, your bleached light and the lack of any manipulations to pretty-it-up: I really like this shot. It's so honest.
