Description
(a recent november shot, turned 'festive'...Please zoom!)
HI everyone...
I've started another break (for work and phys therapy), but I'd planned to do final comments this week...
But I couldn't do them yet---but I WILL! By the weekend! Then I'll do a final upload...
But now, dear friends, please allow a thought:
Americans have Thanksgiving today, which is often a beautiful gathering. But I agree with Mark (wysiwig, his latest upload) that we must remember our forebears, our native brothers and sisters who suffered so greatly from the settlers---acts which were par for the world, certainly, but which we still must remember. Let us remember all who suffer while we have comfort, food and loved ones; and let our gratitude include everyone--incl all who've been forgotten, or who've suffered from illness, from uncaring humans, or by the untamed forces of nature...
Finally, let us dedicate ourselves to never let suffering happen again, by helping, or by caring, however we do it, however we reach out...as an old Rabbinical saying goes: "No celebration is complete if one person suffers somewhere..."
Peace and love to all,
Mark
(I'll be back by the weekend...and thanks so much for your wonderful responses to my last upload!)

Festive is the word. You've turned Chicago into Rio. And words very well said, Mark. At Seder we always give up a little wine in sympathy with the Egyptian victims of God's wrath. As for the Native Americans, in 1493 the Pope issued a so called 'Document of Discovery' which stated that Europeans were free to occupy and possess any land that had a non-Christian population. Unbelievably, that doctrine was used as recently as 2005 to deny the Oneida tribe its right to reclaim land lost to white colonists.

A very colorful and festive image, Mark! You've really turned Chi-town into a celebration of color and movement! Wonderful!
Very true words - there is far too much suffering in this wounded world of ours - most of it caused by our species. These are dark days, but as long as there are those who wish and work to set things right, there is still hope. We cannot go back and undo the many unspeakable injustices of the past, but we can remember, and work to ensure they never happen again.
