Description
Trollebergsvägens Viadukt
(The Trolleberg road viaduct)
On May 18, 2017 I posted the upper photo of the flower arrangement at Trollebergsvägen. The road is to the upper right, and passes below the railroad bridge.
The funny thing is someone wondered what the strange grey beam with a yellow spot was in the photo. It took me a long time before I got to go down town with my camera in order to photograph a train passing over the viaduct. And it was cold, damp and windy waiting for it. The train has just left the Lund station (to the left, out of the photo) and is on its way to the right in the photo, towards Malmö. It's one of the modern commuter trains.
The round yellow sign is a warning to trucks as to the free height below the bridge. (I have once seen the roof of a truck peeled back like a sardine can. Not so fun with damaged goods and traffic snarled.)
As for the flower bed, the flowers were removed a week before the photo was taken. Wooden pegs mark where the next planting will take place come spring.
ENJOY! (NO frying pan!) :-)

Excellent shots of what looks like a medieval shield on top and some kind of sports area at the bottom.

there's a bridge in America that is famous for peeling the tops of trucks trying to go under it. it even has videos on You Tube. great captures showing the dichotomy of the seasons.

Quite a difference a few months makes... But it will look great again next May.
Cool shot of the train, Michael! So, that's one of those infamous truck-eating overpasses... We have a couple here that have insatiable appetites for the tops of trucks/trailers. Not a week goes by that a truck doesn't get stuck under one of them.

Interesting photo and information. Here in the US the height to clear any underpasses is usually given in feet and inches. But that doesn't mean that some trucking companies and their drivers necessarily check their route in advance. I have seen some real good damage in Birmingham, AL to a bridge and the truck. Never mind the inconvenience to other commuters.
