Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Hundreds did this in my home town too, and it was cold! I wasn't among them.....

Cool shot. You won't find me doing this ever - while I don't technically suffer from cryophobia (fear of cold), I do suffer from cold extremities (fingers & toes) & avoid exposure to cold at all costs (though I enjoy snow when properly bundled up). Happy New Year to you!

Wise choice - take the photos of OTHERS jumping into the cold water. I heard on the news this morning several places in the eastern US had cancelled their Polar Bear Plunges because it was too cold.

Better them than me. Terrific water texture in this overhead shot, Marilyn.

only way I'll do a polar plunge is into a steaming hot tub.

Yikes!

Brave people! Here by me it's summer but the sea water is so cold that anyone that swims in it is equally brave.

Polar Plunge? I would have when I was younger. Now though? NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! NOPE!

(well I posted a fall scene for my NYear's image, so you can certainly post a beach scene!) This does look cold! From the positions of the bathers, and your hue-highlights. It's also a very fine action shot of people in water, you instinctively caught their plunging forward motion, how 'in sync' they are, and the general disturbance of the water. Water is so natural to you, I don't know if there's a subject you can't tackle with utter ease. Beautifully done, Marilyn. And I love Andrew's NOPE NOPE NOPE reply. I'll second that. Of course we had minus 30 windchills, so I REALLY wouldn't go in the water now! If I could even break through the ice...
