Description
This uses simple geometry and lighting to represent life and death, in a symbolic form. It came in second place at the Caligari May 1999 Still Image Contest.
I enjoy making pictures that at first glance are interesting to look at, and at second glance have hidden things that you can find. Kind of a grown ups version of the "Wheres Waldo" pictures.
The lack of bodies on the butterflies was intentional. The butterflies represent pure life, unencumbered with a physical body as it enters the world from the brigh t light of the open window and then circle the globe, which reflects back a distorted view of the real world. In the globe you can see a reflection of the skeleton on the floor (death) and the open doorway at the end of a long hallway (the exit from the house of life)

Though the skeleton was not clear to me I did notice everything else you mentioned. You're an amazingly talented artist. I'm impressed.

Awesome stuff. Although I do admit to some curiosity of the image that could beat it in that contest ;)

Only thing I could see that could possibly improve the image would be a little bit of transparency on the butterflies wings, maybe around the edges. They look to flat. Otherwise excelent image.

Guess my first run at a comment got blown away... anyway.. Very impressive work. Saw this image on the TS Home, one of the reasons I purchased TS in the first place.

Beautiful image, likes me the angle of light and the effect of fog that she takes place.
