These probably belonged to my great grandfather, and have been in my family since then.

Done in your light box? The all white background sure makes your great grandfather's balance pop. Makes me think of the old line, "You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting." (looked it up...Book of Daniel, thank you Google)

Good that they didnt carve the price per gram or what you use in UK, because it has changed quite a bit over the years. I sent my brother a little little book about this area over a week ago. Cost me 34 Danish Kr. and believe me, it was ALOT. Not that I cannot affort it, but when it will take the book 10 days before it is delivered, I find it quite expensive, because. A bicycle cant cost that much to drive 70 km, because I cannot imagine they send it by CAR. There is not service here anymore. It costs more and more, but the service it worse and worse. Snort!
