I don't know if Sandy is an actual character from somewhere, but whoever she may be, this is a terrific, surreal piece---she almost looks like a doll (which is spooky because she's alive), with those eyes esp and the sheen on her face. But she's also a person, and you have her in overalls and sitting like she were on a bale of hay. Yet---she's a spirit (an angel), she has wings! And a great hat, and pigtails. And that moon is almost like a raft, on which she sails through the universe the way hobos did on trains, in the 30's. It really feels that way to me---love that you used the moon for that. (Imagination!) You have a watch---reminds me of Salvador Dali's clocks---and an owl, and a lantern on the moon which looks like a spirit's inside it; and even lights draped across the moon, like christmas lights (or marquee lights). You bring together a lot of disparate elements in these pieces, but somehow you weave them into one whole piece, and they're just perfect. This is haunting as well as playful (her gaze----if I met her and she looked at me like this? I'd offer her whatever the hell she wanted, believe me!)...and, visually, it's beautiful too, with the deep blues, and that pale green on the moon, and the pinks, etc. Another packed, wonderful image, Barb. You really weave magic with these.
