Description
The Schiller Monument is located in central Berlin and honors the poet, philosopher and historian Friedrich Schiller, who is also regarded as one of the most significant dramatists and lyricists of the German language. The set of statues was executed by Reinhold Begas a prominent 19th-century German sculptor. It is a registered historic monument. The words on the scroll translate to 'Know Thyself'. It is often pondered what Begas was insinuating about Schiller by making the allegorical female figure holding it appear so 'MALE'....
