Description
Yes, I know, the painting sucks. But it's my first try and I can't for the life of me draw/paint realistically.
Comments and suggestions, however, are STRONGLY wanted :)
Model is Teen Mary (in free stuff)
Scene is Fabbro's Cloister by tastiger (free stuff)
Rendered in Poser 4, postwork in Photoshop 6
The character is from a story I am working on based loosely on the Ancient Roman Republic/Empire:
Isabella Gregorius is the only child of High Consul Cato Gregorius, and the secret lover of Consul Julian Priapus. The Gregorius family is one of the oldest, and wealthiest, patrician families in Andrion, and Isabella's father is strongly against full patrician rights for the "new money" class of patricians (the Priapus family is a new money family).

Keep it up.. trial and errors are where you learn.. great job for the first! ;-)

I've gone through the same "I can't paint" phase; I don't know if I've gotten out of it! You definitely have the right ideas about light and shading; one thing I also had to learn through trial and error was... don't be afraid to darken things -- it works wonders! PhotoShop's Dodge, Burn, Blur, and Smudge features can make things look unbelievably good, when used for clothing. Believe me, you suddenly say, "Wow." Keep up the good work!

Believe me, it will get better. One thing you definitely have here is a good sense of composition. Just keep practicing, it will come.
