Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Needs more postwork!!!!!!!!!!! Detail and clarity in photos these days is sooooooooo overrated!

When we are children things are much simpler. Yellow is just yellow. Then we grow up and take out first art class. You tell someone you are going to use yellow and they ask "What sort of yellow?" And then the fun begins. Spectrum yellow is a new one for me. A fine collection.

you got a lot of yellows here! Orange ones, and lemon ones, and green ones...plus I love the character and texture of these---a real artist's still life. And a must-see, full size; I love the beat up surfaces and dirtied tips...and the slightly used tubes. I really love this shot, as I do all your shots of art media. And as for Mark's comment---all true---it was a revelation to learn how many yellows and reds and blues there were. When we found out that a highly saturated yellow can be orange, we flipped out. (Some slimy yellow can be going around posing as an orange, even getting good seats in restaurants and plays...it's wrong, yet nobody's doing anything about it...) I hope you're starting to feel better, Andrea. Hope it gets better each day...
