Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I love your garden pics. May I ask what kind of plant is on the far left, third one down. Is it some type of bamboo? Gardening out in the country in Kansas is a challenge. The weather is brutal at times and the wildlife will gladly munch whatever you plant. Heck, my peacocks will gladly munch whatever I plant!

Your garden is a total delight.I just wonder how much maintenance it requires, but then it seems it is a labor of love. So who cares. It also tells me you live in a relatively mild climate!

Your garden is looking beautiful even in the middle of winter Andrea. A great collage and even if you can't have snowdrops you have plenty of crocus. They are early for you too. My autumn crocus are just starting to flower so I guess winter isn't far away. 😀

I always look forward to seeing your garden in any season. I love the center image with its disembodied hand hovering over the figure.

Yeah, we've seen that great sculpture in the center, before: Yours, right? It's just great. And I love its setting, with (as Mark points out) that hand on top. White, to top it off! A big wild array of the life of your garden, I love that it starts with that big opening flower in the upper left (Andrea, I know no flower names, so bear with me), the scruffy underbrush and trees of the next, and so on. You have backlit ferns, beautifully lit small flowers, water, sunlit bushes and trees, even those beautiful orange-lit stalks which are so striking against all that green. Another lush montage of your garden, making it seem, as always, like it goes on forever; and showing how you pack a lot of life into that place; and your care and aesthetic choices show up every time. Your garden's a great mini-universe. It oozes with your sensibilities from top to bottom.

You still have a fantastic garden. Even now, it is so very beautiful. Snowdrops. I am beginning to see them getting their white drops in my garden and I do nothing. They just pop up everywhere. I guess its because they dont like any care :-P So I obay them gladly. :-D AND I saw ONE single Eranthis in its bud today. :) Ill go and take some shots tomorrow, if the weather isnt too dull.
