Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Your pond looks fabulous with this filter. Excellent work.

I love that filter! I've made a note of it. The original is a nice photograph, but this one is so much more engaging. It brings out the light, and makes your plank walkway a feature rather than just part of the whole. That's what brings me in ... the idea that I could walk across that plank and BE there. (I wouldn't walk across that on a bet, but still ... it's a compelling fantasy!)

A quiet retreat in mostly greens and yellows. Except for that bright splash of color on the left side and the really interesting abstract reflections at bottom center. For me they draw the eye

I like the photograph but I'm not sure about the filter, but I respect your experimentation with different tools!

I loved this image by itself, esp full size where your detail jumps off the screen. But after seeing the original, I'm really impressed w/ how you tackled the intensity of the original, and made it so relaxing. With this version, you quieted the intensity and made it a whispering image, filled with flattened hues, lots of peaceful areas, and a general feeling of a summer scene as seen through a gentle haze. All this while still retaining the details...you took out the 'teeming' and left a glow...Love the tiny shapes everywhere; and, with Mark, I love the shapes in the water. And, with Tara, your plank, here, becomes a true center of the picture. A must, full size; and it's a dream of sunny summery profusion; with the kind of haze that invites lying in a hammock and drifting into paradise. Beautiful work, Andrea.
(Don't throw something at me, but Ive actually imagined you going down the street topaz-ing people---zap!---then running away, as they diligently try to wipe off the lines, cutouts, neon rays, etc. And you yelling: "Two dabs of turpentine---it'll come off in seconds!" And then, zap, zap---you're at it again...I've yet to use that program...but with you in charge, I can experience it in its fullest!)

The original looks awesome Andrea.
This one make it look like a pastel painting, well done.
Thanks for sharing both.
