Description

100% Bryce. This image won me the May "The Duel" challenge, along with one of Rochr's image. I wasn't completely happy with it and wanted to improve it (Vasquez will attest to the improvements I need to make ;-)). However given the enormous time it takes to render metaballs and complex terrain objects, I

I used to think I was decent in Bryce... now I'll never touch the program again... LOL. I can hardly believe you did that all in Bryce. The things I'd try to fix is the jagged edges near the eye holes of the right guy's helmet. I'd also do some more work on the Hands, as they could use a little bit of work. Until I saw those fingers I swore you were lying and that the figures came from Poser.... and even if that hand been the case... the Armor alone (to accomplish that in Bryce) is more than enough for a massive standing ovation.

Wait, wait! You have got to be kidding. ALL THIS IN BRYCE ALONE?!?!? But seriously, yes, DraX is right. To make the image absolutely perfect I would give some more attention to the hands (the right hand of the left guy would be my primary victim).

MAN! re-seeing this image is a spiritual experience!!! It is really awesome what you've done here... This POVis good (according to me) and those gladiators.. are sublime, yes.. some minor error are present... but we can forgive you everything, doing only a little part of your image is for us a challenge. I'm hungry of your masterpiece!

Why do you do it, man? Why do you put yourself through it ? ;) LOL But excellent..anyway, even more so that it is pure bryce...it just takes it to the next level... Was this rendered on high quality? There are quite a few jagged lines like on the sword and the above mentioned...it would be nice to have a slightly different angle and on high quality (if bryce 5) ... nitpicking, but i still rate this excellent! ;)

Yes, I recognise this one! Wonderful modelling (x-cept the guy's hand is a little skeletal), almost perfect for the effect you're trying to achieve. The clouds are nice too. My main gripe would be with the POV. Although I'm sure these two will slice off multiple bodyparts given the chance, that's no excuse for the camera to do it! ;)) Legs, fine, but the guy on the left has just a little of his arm cut off, and the guy on the right the bottom bit of his shield. I would pull back the camera to accommodate the full width of the gladiators, then lower it, angle it a little upwards, slightly increase its FOV and certainly decrease the rather dizzying tilt, which I'm not keen on. And that's it! I don't ask much, do I? ;)

This is a really exceptional and very astounding composition for "only Bryce" and we are total in awe with it!! - - Two hats off... we admire innumerable fantastic details and we do not have an improvement suggestion or a better idea for any amendment... your modelling is perfect, the camera angle make the scene really powerfull, the poses and all your fine texturework is excellent... what more?!??? - - We only would see your image in a larger render, all other is in our eyes absolutely splendid, friend :-)))))))

Hey thanx all! Well yes, this hasn't been rendered in Anti Alias as there wasn't time to render it in AA (after a 16 hour render) and still be in time to submit it for the challenge. Now you can understand why I have been hesitant to re-render it! :-P Vasquez had made quite a few very releant improvements, and I'll be bringing in those changes, plau a few slain galdiators to make up the background not to mention a better stadia and crowds! Now wouldn't it be great if I accomplished all this in Bryce?

I am simply amazed at your talent in Bryce, to do realistic people without a modeler or Poser is just incredible. Despite some stuff mentioned above, this is inredibly awesome. As Nexxon said, you are the master...
