Description
As always, thank you for all your support.
A holographic image of the Chief of Starfleet Operations appeared before Gavin Mitchel and Ami Wu. Admiral Amanda Ross smiled when she saw the two of them. "Ami Wu! What ever are you doing in engineering colors?"
Ami shook her head and recounted the troubles they'd had on the ship.
"Well get your correct colors on. And you'll need some Commanders pips to go with it. I understand Captain Mitchell here has some he could let you have," They both smiled.
"Thank you Admiral. But according to Joshua Kirk, I'm going to marry his future mother in law," Gavin said. "We'll have two boys. Ami will be marrying his future brother in law."
"And how many children will you have Miss Wu?"
Ami held up six fingers.
"And just where is Ambassador Kirk anyway?"
"He's on board this ship the Long Distance Runner," Ami said. "Impregnating his future sister-in-law and her wife."
"What?" Ross said as she shook her head. "I see he hasn't changed. What a slut."
"Well, he is a Kirk, Admiral Ross." Mitchell said.
"Well Miss Wu," The Admiral said as she smiled. "Tell Joshua when he's done doing his stud duties that his family can't wait to see him."
"Yes Admiral," Gavin said. "He can't wait to get back. But he's not going to stay, though. This place has taken hold of him."
"I got that feeling when I talked to him."
"Admiral, before we get down to giving our report, we have some video we want you to send to the Klingons. Just to let them see what Gond and his warriors have been up to. They will be proud of them."
"If it's what happened at Sora, then they already have it. The Republic sent it through to us a couple weeks ago. There has been much drinking and hell raising in the Empire. Oh, and tell our horny Ambassador, that he's needed for the Ceremony of Adoption on Qo'nos. Kahless has a strong, healthy daughter he wants him to meet."
"Yes Admiral, we'll tell him." Ami Wu said with a grin. "But we all know how long it takes the men in his family to do these stud services. This could take a while. And I've met one of these two women. She strikes me as the kind who won't let him go until she has what she wants."
"When has your cousin ever had anything to do with any other kind of woman?" The admiral said with a half smile. "You know how he loves strong willed women."
"I guess it comes from being raised by the Dictator." Ami joked. Ross glared sternly at the Commander.
"You'd best watch how you talk about Admiral Kirk. She's slated to take my position in about two months. So she's going to be your boss."
"I don't know, Joshua seems pretty adamant that I'm going to marry this Ulrich." Ami then grinned. "And truth be told, I wouldn't mind having children with him. He's hot!"
Joshua entered the holding cell where Janith Solana sat on the bed under a suicide watch. Following him in was the med droid MU-SO 1 and Captain Gavin Mitchell. The woman on the bed looked at Joshua with contempt.
"Come to gloat over me?" she said, her voice dripping acid.
"No," He shook his head. "I get no joy out of seeing you like this. I'm not like you."
"Then why are you here?"
"This med droid is going to give you a blood test."
She stared at the droid. "Why would I need a blood test?"
"We are going to test you for midichlorians. It's a microscopic life form that permiates almost all life here. It can influence behavior. I think that's what's been happening to you. Show her the video Captain Mitchell."
Gavin played a security video taken in the corridor where'd they'd confronted Solana flashed on the screen. That's when Gavin paused it and zoomed in on her face. Janith stared at herself. With horror she recalled the premonition that James Pok had told her about on Mars.
Solana recounted for Joshua what Pok had told her several years earlier in the woods surrounding the medical center on Mars. How he'd seen what she was going to do. She then told him about what he'd seen about him.
"As usual, he's right," Joshua said. "I am learning to use this Force."
The Admiral snorted at him. "I find this whole idea of a Force to be silly."
Joshua turned to the droid standing next to the bed and gently lifted it and floated it back to the door. Gavin cocked an eyebrow.
"I also gave you a demonstration, earlier, of something called emotional projection. It made you think that I was in pain over the death of my family, even though they are very much alive."
"Major Kirk, her count is 1,417." The droid said. "It is possible for her to be influenced by the Force."
"Enter it into this ships computer then as evidence."
"You know this could help her." Mitchell told Kirk.
Kirk turned to his sister's friend. "I am not going to conceal evidence."
Joshua then told them of the deeds of Van Matthews and Gath Pok.
"I don't like the fact that the Feds would want that kind of information, Cousin." Mitchell said.
"Well, lucky for us, Moscow ended up here before it could be handed off to them. And Pok made sure that everything here involving the General Program was destroyed. Including Matthews. I have a neat little bit of a holo of Melee spraying a bulkhead with his brains. As they say, payback's a bitch."
Ami Wu entered with Mark Berring and took the admiral to one of the ships stasis rooms. She returned later, shaking her head. "The deed is done. She even struck a sexy pose before the stasis field was turned on," All four laughed.
"What are you going to do Josh?" She asked.
"Well, I have some more baby making to do with Em and Ro. I'll work on that until I get back to Coruscant, where I hope to engage in some more baby making practice with Peenk."
Ami laughed. "I think you've found a new career, Josh!"
"Hey! It's what I'm best at."
MU-SO 1 interrupted them. "Major Kirk? I have one more thing to add. But I waited until Admiral Solana was taken away before I would tell you."
"What is it?" Kirk asked, glancing at the others.
"The Admiral is a clone."
"A clone!" Ami whispered, shaking her head in disbelief. They were now in the Captain's ready Room.
"Yes, she was grown using the Spartii method. I think we have an answer for the problems we're having back home." Joshua said after a few seconds. "And that would explain her instability. They can have trouble with the clones grown in these Spartii tanks."
"So this Spartii method is used by the Empire I take it?" Gavin asked. Kirk nodded. "I see you've been doing your homework."
"I wanted to learn as much about this Empire as possible. I was an ambassador you know."
"But that would mean they've been there for at least ten years. Because that's when she began her campaign against you," Ami said.
"They entered the wormhole sixteen years ago. But that's the least of our problems. It seems that the Imperial force sent over met the Movement."
"I wonder how large a force is there?" The woman asked.
"A single stardestroyer and a frigate, as well as some personel from Imperial Intelligence. All told, there were about sixty thousand Imps."
"You seem to know much about this." Berring commented. "Where did you learn this?"
"From the Empire's representative to the Republic. They have a transmission they intercepted from one of their ships. They picked it up when the Republic began to open the wormhole. It has Arkanian and Kerr talking about engineering the crisis with the government. Arkie was less than pleased when we called for new elections. He'd thought we'd take over."
"Those idiots are so predictable," Mitchel said, shaking his head. "If an idea makes sense, they'll do the opposite."
"So did you tell the Federation about what you found?" Ami asked Joshua.
"Yes," He replied. "Right about now, I imagine the defectives in the movement are feeling the heat."
"Something should have been done about them a long time ago," Ami complained. "They've represented a danger to everyone for too long."
"But as long as they never violated the law, there was nothing we could do," Mitchel said with a shrug, holding a PADD. "We just don't declare someone guilty, then put them on trial. We're not Cardassians."
"Yeah, Little Girl!" Joshua said with a smirk. "We're not Cardassians!" Ami turned to her cousin and stuck her tongue out and began to give a crude reply, but was interrupted by an incoming call.
"Mr Ambassador?" Dani Marx cut in. "I'm here in Astrogation, and I've already found your missing ship. It's about two hundred lightyears from here. It's parked near a black hole."
"Good! We can head that way as soon as some guests arrive."
"What missing ship? And just who are these guests?" Gavin stared at Kirk.
"The ship is USS Moscow. And the guests are Gath Pok and a couple of lady friends, and the daughter of one of Moscow's crew, and one of her daughters."
"Moscow?" Ami stood frozen in shock. "How many other people are running around this galaxy from that ship?"
"There were only three. Gath Pok and the late Van Matthews. And somehow, the daughter of one of the scientists, Derush, a Vulcan, was found with two dead humans about fifty years ago."
"And why is he the late Van Matthews?" Ami asked curiously.
"Because Melee killed him," Joshua then told Ami of the Empire's program to create super soldiers and assassins. She angrily shook her head.
Joshua and Melee entered the darkened room, dozens of stasis tubes standing empty. Empty except one.
Admiral Janith Solana floated in the stasis tube in her uniform, her eyes closed. "She's very beautiful, Josh. Too bad she's totally insane, huh?" Peering into the tube, Melee examined the tattoo on Solana's forehead. "Does that tattoo have some special meaning, big brother?"
"Yes," Joshua nodded. "It has a deep religious meaning."
"What does it mean?"
"I have no idea." He smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
Melee punched him in the arm. "Oh, funny."
"No, it's true," Joshua told her. "She was raised a Serene. It's a pacifist belief system. When one becomes a Serene, the first thing they do is design and apply a tattoo to their forehead, so that everyone knows what they are. Every tattoo is different, and only she or he knows what it means. They don't tell anyone what it means. They will not write it down, they will not record it in audio or video logs. It stays in their heads and they take it with them to the grave."
"Well this head there is a bit screwy." The girl said, laughing.
"You won't get an argument from me. I think her problems started when she joined Starfleet. It was incompatible with everything she was raised to believe in. Then you throw in the incident between Ralia and myself. And then the war came and she found herself in charge of ships that had one purpose: death."
"Or maybe it's because she's a clone grown in a Spartii tank, and is just nuts!" Melee said with a grin.
"Maybe. I'm of the belief that people like her should not be allowed to serve in the military side of Starfleet. War does things to them. Especially when it's with an enemy like the Dominion. That was a cruel war. Even the Family was affected in some ways. When you face an enemy like the Jem Hadar, you sometimes find yourself doing things that civilized people don't do."
"Joshua?" Melee put her hand on Joshua's arm. "Did it happen to you?"
He nodded, still staring at Solana. "You saw the gray boots I wore to the singing on Sora?"
"Yes," Melee nodded.
"Well, they're made from Jem Hadar skin."
The girl backed away in disgust.
Kirk turned to her, tears welling up in his eyes. "I don't blame you. Gond was the one on our side who started it. You see, Klingons used to do it to an enemy that they viewed with contempt. But we were not the ones to start it in this war. They did."
"Gond's fleet liberated a prison camp once. The prisoners said that if the bastards found someone with skin they liked, they would kill and skin them on the spot. Then they would force the prisoners to dispose of the body."
Tears then started rolling down his cheeks. "That's what happened to my uncle Jacob and the other men under my command. This Ka'alu even had a pair. Made from my uncle!"
Melee threw her arms around Joshua and held him tight. Joshua Kirk shook his head hard.
"But they're all just so much radioactive dust now," Joshua pulled away from Melee and lead her to the door. "Let's go. It's time to find Moscow."
