Description

As always, thank you for all your support. Joshua stood with Melee and Mark Berring, staring up at the last occuped stasis tube in this part of Moscow. In it floated a tall brunette in an old style Starfleet uniform. She looked just like the pictures and videos he'd seen growing up. Catherine Juliana Kirk. The short man nodded to his friend, Mark. "Ok. Let's wake her up, Ugly." "You got it," Berring said before he left the room. Twenty seconds later, he called back over Kirk's communicator. "Dropping the stasis field in three, two, one." A chime sounded and the woman's eyes popped open. She quickly glanced about, then turned to stare at the two who stood before her. Reaching up, she pressed the button that dropped the walls of the tube. "That looks like a Starfleet badge you're wearing," She said. "But I don't recognize the uniform. How long have we been in stasis?" "About fifty years, Ensign Kirk," He told her. The woman swore under her breath. "Do you have any news of my family?" "All of them are fine. And you'll be meeting them soon. You're lucky in that regard. Some people have lost many of their's. But none as bad as Captain Jones. "How bad is it with her." "She's lost everyone. I'm going to her stateroom next to break the news. After that, I have to see this civilian scientist Derush. It seems her baby was kidnapped two years after Moscow's crew went into stasis. Van Matthews came back here." "Why would he take her baby?" She asked angrily. "I don't think he did," Kirk told her. "I think it was an accomplice. Two years after you went under, he came back and moved the ship. That must have been when she was taken. She was later found on a planet called Coruscant in a burning ship, with two dead humans. She was later adopted by the manager of the spaceport where she was found." "Coruscant?" "Capitol of the Republic. And just wait until you see it. Every inch of the planet is covered by city. Well, everything except the polar regions." "It must have a massive population!" Catherine said. "About 2.5 trillion beings," Melee cut in. "Let's get a move on, Josh. After we see this ship's captain, we have to join Karyn and Kaleena." "Who are they?" Joshua's aunt asked. "Members of your crew?" "No, Karyn is the daughter of Derush, and Kaleena is one of her two grandaughters," Kirk's combadge chimed. Tapping it, he spoke. "Kirk here." "Ugly here. Tell Melee she's needed on the bridge. We are going to hook up the controls to the hyperdrive." "She's on the way," Joshua gestured in the direction of the exit. "Let's go ladies." "Wait!" Cat said firmnly as she stared at Joshua. "You said Kirk. As in Joshua Augustus Kirk." "As in Joshua William Augustus Patrick Kirk," He said as he smiled at his shocked aunt. "Oh my God!" She said as she laughed. "Your David's son. My little brother said he was going to name his first born son after our famous ancestor." "And he did," Kirk said as he waved for her to follow. "As well as his friend William Marx and your father." "So your also named after little Billy Marx?" "Yes, though Bill Marx is no longer little" "I guess I have much catching up to do," Cat mumbled as they left. Joshua pressed the call button outside Captain Jones' stateroom, Catherine Kirk, his aunt, beside him. After several seconds, the door slid open. Ellen Jones stood in the doorway, a look of dread on her face. She motioned for the two of them to enter. "Captain Mitchel said that you had news of my family. And since he wouldn't tell me anything, I figure it's bad." "Yes Captain Jones, it is," Joshua steeled himself for what was to come. "Your husband died, two years after you disappeared, fighting Romulans," The woman slowly shook her head. "What of my children?" "Your son died defending Human colonists from Breen slavers. Your daughter and her husband were killed on the Setlik III colony by the Cardassians. She had two children, a boy and a girl. A friend helped them escape from the Cardassians." "The girl, Freya, entered Starfleet. She died when she stayed aboard a badly damaged destroyer with her captain and two others, and rammed and destroyed a Dominion battleship, in order to allow three other destroyers to escape," Joshua's eyes were now tearing up. "Her captain was my aunt, Cynthia Tanaka. The four were posthumously awarded the Medal Of Honor." "Her son Oskar, served under me in Starfleet Special Forces. He perished on a planet called Teros 6 with nine others. He was awarded his second Medal Of Honor for his actions there." "You knew my grandson?" Jones' face brightened. "Very well. He has a wife and daughter. But she was teaching at the Special Forces training facility on Niril when it was attacked by the Dominion. Things are still a bit chaotic there, so they could still be alive." "Someone was insane enough to attack the Nirillese?" Catherine asked in disbelief. "Yes. They could have asked the Romulans about that, but I don't think they would tell them anything. Especially after they bombarded Romulus." "Who are the Dominion?" Jones asked. "I've never heard of them." "They are from the Gamma quadrant. They entered our part of the galaxy through a wormhole. They're like the mirror image of the Federation. Their rulers, the Founders, rule through fear. Fear of the use of the Jem'Hadar, genetically engineered clone soldiers." "I guess Humans weren't the only ones to use those things." The captain said with a laugh. "But I imagine they can control their monsters." "You need to watch that attitude with regards to the Enhanced Humans Captain Jones. Especially when you consider you are in a room with two of them," Ellen Jones immediately backed away from the others. Catherine Kirk on the other hand, glared angrily at Joshua, who continued with his tale. "We did not die in the Eugenics War. We've thrived and lived among you for centuries. We've served with you. Fought alongside you. And we've died for you. About a third of your crew are Enhanced. Just ask your ship's doctors." "Does this mean we no longer hide what we are?" The tall woman asked, still staring at Joshua. "Six months after you disappeared, our existence was announced to the people of the Federation. Some were fearful at first. But they realized that we've been among them for centuries, living peacefully." "So you need to watch that attitude Captain Jones," Kirk told the woman quietly. "Because your daughter married one of us. Which made your grandchildren General class." "General Class?" Jones queried. "Just how many classes are there?" "There were three." Catherine said. "The Soldier, Assassin, and General classes. Those who caused the Eugenics War were of the Assassin Class. Most of them were arrogant, violent, and uncontrollable. And the last of them died when James Kirk and his crew of Enterprise killed them." "Captain Jones?" A voice called over the intercom, interrupting them. "Can you come to the bridge? We have a slight problem up here. Dr Van Matthews has left a message for you. But we're having trouble opening it." "We'll be right there." Joshua Entered the bridge of USS Moscow with her captain, Ellen Jones, as well as his aunt Catherine Kirk. Melee sat at the helm with Mark Berring and two members of Moscow's crew, prepping the ship for the hyperdrive they'd installed, just as they'd done for Excalibur. Commander Jason Cabrerra, Jones' executive officer stood at the comm console. "What do you have, Cab?" Jones asked. "We need a password to open the message. Some nonsense about the strongest of the three." "General," Joshua said. The officer typed the answer in and smiled. "I've been trying for an hour to figure it out," He said in a huff. "The question must mean something to you," Joshua nodded. Captain Jones sat in her chair in the center of the bridge and waved her hand. "Play it, Cab," An image of Van Matthews sitting in Jones' chair appeared on the large screen, smirking. "Hello Captain Jones. If you're seeing this, that means that someone has found Moscow and brought you out of stasis. It also means that at least one of your resident freaks knew the password," Several people on the crowded bridge stared angrily at the smirking man. "But I digress. I'm here to tell you the obvious: I moved Moscow. I hid it so that damned fool Pok can't find it. You see, I'm going to mine this ship for technology. Some of the things in it are more advanced than what can be found in this Republic. Not much mind you, but some. But those are the things that will make me wealthy," He then leaned forward. "But it's the information that we found in the wrecked ship beyond Pluto that will make me powerful." "He saved the Enhancement information we found." Gath Pok told the others as Matthews paused. "I met a man recently. Name of Palpatine. He's just a low level government functionary right now. But that man and his boss think big. The kind of big that I want to be part of. And I think some super killing machines are the order of the day. Of course, I'll have to find our Nirilese monkey man Pok. I'll need his big brain to make this work," Pok glared angrily at the screen. The chubby man glanced over at a clock. "Well, I've got to go. I have to plant a bomb in the ship my accomplices came in. I'm not going to share in my new found wealth. And the two that are flying my ship will meet an untimely death when we return to Coruscant." Matthews stood and stared out from the view screen. "Two more quick things before I go. Cat? You shouldn't have turned me down. It would have been magical," He smiled and put his hand over his heart and sighed. "And the other thing I have to say is for the crew of Moscow. "A third of this ships crew are Enhanced. Just like Singhe. And just like the ones I'm going to make for Mr Palpatine and his mysterious boss. Ta ta!" With a final smirk, Van Matthews winked and ended the recording. Several of the bridge crew looked nervously around at the others. Except the man sitting at the station next to Melee. He fell out of his chair and crawled backwards across the deck, pointing at the tall blonde. "Jesus Christ! She's one!" He shouted. Captain Jones jumped from her chair and grabbed the man by his tunic. "Get your ass off that deck Mr Wilson!" She growled. "You are an officer in Starfleet! Act like one!" After he jumped to his feet, Jones turned to Melee and tapped her hand where it was crushing the metal shell of the console, her eyes still locked on the blank screen. "Girl, please don't damage the console. We'll need it," Melee pulled her shaking hand away from the crumpled metal. "Sorry. It's just seeing him again!" The girl whispered harshly. "He used to talk the same way when he altered us girls. He would laugh and joke." "But he's dead, and you are here," Joshua told her. "Are you sure he's dead?" Jones spun to Kirk, an expectant look on her face. "Captain Jones?" Melee blurted out happily as she swiveled about in the chair. "I shoved a blaster in his mouth and pulled the trigger twice. A Human can't live through that."
