Description
In 1857, Eugène Viollet-le-Duc restores the castle of Pierrefonds ( Oise) and continues a campaign(countryside) of restoration(catering) of medieval fortresses in the 1860s while being interested in former(old) Egypt. On May 13th, 1864, Antoine d' Abbadie requests E. Viollet-le-Duc but this one has not much time(weather) to dedicate to the neo-Gothic project and confides(entrusts) him to his follower Edmond Duthoit5 who is enthused over the Arabic architecture (he is then chief director(manager) of Historic monuments in Algeria). Finally, the plans of C. Parent(relative) are kept(preserved) but the modified facades. Masters(teachers) of work follow one another (Darrigo, Delarocque, Fréson and Dartéguy).
The respective roles of masters(teachers) of work, E. Viollet-le-Duc and E. Duthoit, were discussed for a long time so much their realizations can become confused

Does someone live in this, or is it a hotel, or conference center, or..... Would be interesting to see the inside. Are there spiral stairs in the round turrets? Keep up the good work. :-)

We can visit the inside, but photos are forbidden, to know more about it there is a web site: http://www.chateau-abbadia.fr/, but only in French.

Je suis bien passé à Hendaye l'an dernier mais le temps...typique du coin !...nous a empêchés de profiter des beautés du coin...heureusement tes belles photographies nous permettent d'en jouir un peu.
