Description

Declared royal abbey in 1141 by king Louis VII, husband(spouses) of Alienor d' Aquitaine since 1137, the set(group) was widely ruined by the religious wars. We owe partially its protection(saving) and its restoration(catering) to Prosper Mérimée, impressed by what stayed of the set(group) " novel from Poitou ".

Aha! Here we have the entire facade. Beautiful romanesque architecture. And old - 1100s or earlier. Which religious war are you alluding to? Keep up the good work. You are really giving us a course in French history and French architecture! :-)
