Description
Thanks for all the replies everyone.
V'reenda tapped the Human boy on his shoulder. She was going to ask if he could tell her where she could find some of the Federation doctors. Much to her surprise though, when he turned about, she found herself facing the boy she'd seen take down Matt Corzo outside the Starfarer Club, the Ambassador, Joshua Kirk.
"It's nice to meet you again," He said in a genial tone.
"You remember me?" She asked, stunned that he did. When he'd taken Matt down, he might have glanced at her for a half second.
"I have an eidetic memory. So I remember every thing about that night," He told V'reenda. "For instance, there were three prostitutes, two female, one male, talking about their nights customers about twenty meters away. About ten meters in the other direction were four men engaging in a drug deal that was ready to go south."
"Go south?"
"Slang for go bad. They were to the point of pulling their blasters when the police showed up. That was when they cleared out," Joshua then cocked his head to the side. "Then there was you. Standing next to you was a Mandalorian of the Aliit Bessa. I'd met him briefly on Concord Dawn about three weeks earlier. And of course, there was the man in that ridiculous pink bodysuit, with the red boots."
"Baffa D'Oriley. He owns the Starfarer."
"Yes. Though I got the feeling that his appearance is just a facade to throw people off."
"It is," V'reenda agreed. "He was once an Imperial commando. Very dangerous man if crossed."
Joshua nodded. "Well, how can I help you?" He asked.
"I'm looking for these Federation doctors. I'm here to see my mother. She's in stasis, I think they call it. And I'm also here to find out more about where I'm from."
"What do you mean?" Kirk asked, puzzled.
"I was talking with a friend who was on Coruscant recently," V'reenda explained. "She told me about an ability you people have to connect to a computer. That you have a hole in the back of your head where you insert a cable of some kind."
"One of these," Joshua said as he pulled his link from his pocket. "It's called a link. We can also connect to each other as well. Now tell me why you wish to know this?"
"Because I have a small hole in the back of my head."
"Well, you do look like you could be half Kouree," Joshua told her, suddenly nervous. "But there should be none here. There were none on Excalibur, Moscow, nor among the doctors and the embassy staff that are here."
V'reenda pulled out a holoprojector and switched it on. Floating before Joshua was a ship. A ship that he recognized. "I was found as a baby on this ancient ship, in suspended animation."
"That's King George V," Kirk paused for a second. "What do you know about the wormhole? Your people call it a space tunnel."
"Pretty much what everyone else does. I know about the battle there, and the destruction of the hyper matter reactor that opened it."
"Well, that ship and two others like it were coming through the wormhole when the reactor blew. We thought they were destroyed," Joshua shook his head. "It looks like they experienced some temporal displacement."
"Temporal displacement?" V'reenda asked. It was now her turn to be confused.
"They went back in time," Joshua thought for a moment. "It looks like we now know how Human's ended up in this galaxy. Just where is this ship?"
"I'd have to ask my mother's brother. He and my mother were the ones who found me."
"Well I tell you what," Joshua Kirk said as he steered her down the hall. "We have a comm center here at the hospital. We can make a call to the Federation and find out who your parents were. They'll know who were on those ships. Let's find out who you are."
"Hello Lieutenant Grossman," Joshua Kirk said as he handed the communications officer a data chip. "Here are some biometric readings. Contact Starfleet and have them cross reference it with the crew and passengers of King George V."
"What are you looking for, sir?" The woman asked.
"This woman's parents," Joshua said as he held his hand to V'reenda. "And tell Starfleet that the wreckage of George V has been found. It did make it through the wormhole," The woman nodded and did as she was asked. After half an hour Grossman glanced at Kirk, clearly uneasy.
"Mark and Keeda Wu?" He asked with a sigh.
"Yes sir. Starfleet medical says there's no doubt."
"Fuck!" Joshua cursed under his breath.
"Do you," V'reenda asked, nervously."Do you know my parents?"
Joshua took his link from his pocket and connected himself to the computer. Several images of a couple flashed up on the screen. V'reenda stared with wonder at the sight of Joshua inserting the link into the back of his head, then at the pair on the monitor.
"Meet Mark Wu, my cousin, and his wife Keeda," He then turned to V'reenda. "Cousin of mine, they are your parents."
"They look happy," She said smiling.
"They always were. It was Keeda, you see. People just became happier when she was in the room. Your mother was an empath. She could pick up and broadcast emotions. So if she was happy, so was everyone else. And I've never seen her when she wasn't," V'reenda turned away from the image sadly.
"Hey, it's not all bad," Joshua said in a comforting tone. "Your father is still alive. He's captain of a Federation science ship."
"He is?" The woman asked, her face lighting up.
"Yes. And what's more, his baby sister is here on Coruscant."
"Well what do you know!" V'reenda said with a weak smile. "I've got family popping up all over."
"Come with me and I'll introduce you to Ami," When Joshua took her arm to leave the comm center, he found he was no longer on Coruscant.
All about him a lightsaber battle raged. He saw himself fighting two male Zabraks, their faces marked with their tribal tattoos. Behind him was V'reenda, a saber in her hand, as well as two others, a Near Human male and a Human female. They also wielded weapons, though they were not fighting. To Joshua's surprise, the Sith that he and V'reenda were fighting were moving as fast as Generals. And of all the lightsabers there, only his was not red. V'reenda was a Sith! As suddenly as it had started, he was back, Grossman and V'reenda staring at him.
"Sir?" The officer asked cautiously. "Is there something wrong?"
"No," Joshua stared hard at V'reenda and shook his head. "No, but we need to go," He told his cousin. When they were down one of the exit corridors, Joshua stopped and switched on the sound deadener he always wore.
"Nobody can hear us," He said, his voice now a monotone. "Now tell me why you are really here, Darth V'reenda."
The Sith now knew what had happened. He'd had a Force vision.
"So you know what I am?"
"Yes. And don't worry, your secret is safe with me," He said.
"Why would you hide this?" She asked in a tone that was a cross between disbelief and anger. "Are you not training to become a Jedi?"
"Yes. But I also know that it's not wise to change the future. And that's what I saw. You and I defending two other Sith from eleven others," He paused for a second before continuing. "You're the one who freed Menzie Arall, aren't you?" V'reenda nodded, seeing no reason to lie now.
"I also killed Matt Corzo."
"That's why he was heading for the Starfarer Club. To meet you."
"Again, yes," V'reenda said. "He was supposed to bring Hahd Adralla to me. And no, he was not a Sith. He was too damned stupid. He was just a tool to be used. A broken one it would seem. He was rather unstable." The two then left to find V'reenda's mother.
