Description

Weighing between 13.5 and 19 kilograms, the Kori Bustard is the heaviest flying bird in the world. Due to its weight it prefers walking slowly and sedately when foraging. When disturbed, it walks quickly and will fly reluctantly but powerfully. It normally runs before take-off, but is also capable of taking off from a standing position. This bird is only common in protected areas. Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park - March 2017

Looks powerful. I wonder what happens if it gets mad at a tourist! Ostriches attack, bite and kick. Does this bird do likewise, or does it fly away? Very good photo of this fellow. Smart birds, only in protected areas! Keep up the good work! :-)

Aristocratic? What an unusually shaped head. What has God wrought? Kind of looks like a abominated turkey. That is one creature I would not want to meet in a dark alley. Great capture with fine detail in any event.

My first impression was of a piece of driftwood. An odd duck but you've made a wonderful image with excellent detail.
