Description
Thanks for all the replies everyone.
Mackenzie stared at Mala and Nani as they gossipped endlessly with Cynthia, his niece. Shaking his head at their non-stop banter, he turned to his mother.
"Josh is going to have the time of his life!" He said, grinning. "Can you imagine how much they're going to talk when they are in the same room?"
"Reminds me of your sister and her friends."
"Oh, please!" He said quickly. "These girls have nothing on Julia and her buds. My brain would go numb listening to them chatter on and on."
"Oh look!" Nani said, pointing. "Here they come!"
"Finally," Nancy Kirk said, feeling slightly dazed at the constant chatter of the girls. "Now we can find out what the news is that Josh has for us."
"Big news!" Joshua said as he stepped before the camera. He grinned when he saw his daughter in armor. "Hey! You're playing football?"
"Best quarterback in the girl's league," Mackenzie said with pride. "And I'm her coach."
"Don't get them in trouble, Mack!" Joshua warned his brother.
"What? Now what would make you think I would do something to get these girls in trouble?"
"Your favorite player was Conrad Dobler, that's what!" Joshua grinned. "But let's get back on track, shall we?" Turning to his daughter, his grin faded to a smile.
"Cyn, I have someone I want you to meet."
"Oooo, another long lost cousin?" She said with a giggle.
"Even better, Boz Octavian Kirk," He said as Peenk carried his son into view. Looking up at his mother's shocked face, he continued. "Yes, the medical droid called that one wrong. Where's my father?"
"Ferenginar. He's signing a deal with Trod. Ralph Offenhouse was in heaven negotiating with the Ferengi. The Grand Nagus even made him an honorary Ferengi, they were so impressed with his business accumen."
"Smartest business move you two did was hiring Offenhouse," Kirk told his mother.
"Yes, but enough about business, let's talk about this little boy here," Nancy said pointing to her newest grandson. "I know for a fact that Deniece Williamson is an exceptional doctor, so how could she not know this woman was carrying a boy?"
"Oh she knew!" Joshua told her. "She just thought it would be funny to not tell her."
"I think she would have told her the truth," Peenk said as she gently bounced her newborn brother. "If she'd known my mother spent fifteen million Republic credits on bedrooms at her various residences. All set up for a girl."
"Damn," Nancy said with a laugh. "All we did was throw some blue or pink paint on the wall."
"Sounds like a beginner to me!" MacKenzie said. "I heard Joshua spent a million and a half on Cyn just for his place in Old Olympus City. Three million on his penthouse in Olympic Tower. Hell, he built her a ten million dollar home out in the country. Then add in the eleven million for the homes he owns in Hawaii, Alaska, and Ireland!"
"Really?" Peenk said as she peered at Joshua. "You said you live simply."
"Ha!" Cynthia laughed rudely. "Let me tell you about my dad's little hideaway in the Valley! Twenty five million to excavate an aircraft hangar in the walls of Valles Marineris for his vintage collection of mid twentieth century military aircraft! And those things are valued at eighty million."
"Enough, enough," Joshua said as he glanced at Boz. "We're here to talk about this little guy."
"Joshua?" Mackenzie said with a short laugh. "You might not have noticed, but that boy's huge!"
"Nine kilos," Peenk said as she held the baby. "And I think half of it is that hair of his. I've never seen a baby with that much hair when they were born. But then again, I've never seen a baby who was born with a complete set of teeth!"
"Where's his Mother?" Cynthia asked.
"Our mother is recovering from the delivery," Mala said. "She had a very rough time of it."
"I imagine!" The tall Starfleet officer said. "That's a pretty big baby to be popping out of a Norm."
"He didn't," Joshua said to his mother. "Magenta had to admit defeat and have her first cesarean."
"Well, now we just have to wait for the twins, then you'll be done for a while, huh Daddy?" Cyn asked. Joshua smiled and glanced over to Peenk. Nancy grinned and turned to Peenk.
"Oh, by the Force no! Not me." The blonde said quickly. "My sister and her partner wanted a baby and asked me if I would let him give them one. There are no babys in my future."
"And did it work?" Joshua's daughter asked, expectantly.
"Emerald, my sister, is carring a boy," Mala cut in quickly. "And Roma, a girl!"
"Well, you know what they say about us Kirk men," Joshua and MacKenzie intoned as one. "Our live rounds never miss!"
"Well," Peenk said as she jabbed the elder Kirk son with her elbow. "You've had your shots, so you're firing duds now. And that's the only 'rounds' that are going to be fired at my eggs!"
Joshua just smiled.
"Forget it!" Peenk said when she saw him smile.
"It is unavoidable," He whispered to her. "It is your destiny."
"You've been talking to Pehn?" Peenk demanded.
"No, Ivory told me."
"I'm going to kick my sister's traitorous ass!" She shouted, startling the baby. Soothing Boz, her anger quickly faded. "Yes, I'm going to have your children. I'm just not happy with it. I've seen what my mother went through with this guy."
"What are you two talking about?" Joshua's brother asked in confusion.
"She has seen the future, Lil Bruddah." Joshua told Mackenzie. "That's how she knew where to find me after I'd liberated that X-Wing."
"Don't you mean stole?" Peenk said with a smirk.
"It's not stealing!" He answered back. "We've talked about this before. Even the Vice-President agrees with me."
"Yes, but she's married to a man who was a smuggler and a bit of a thief himself."
"And he's not?" Nancy Kirk demanded, pointing to her oldest son. "I take it you have yet to tell her about your 'emergency aquisition' of Asa Mitchell's yacht?"
"Hey, I had to get the 15th squad to Andoria for some cold weather training!"
"There were five Starfleet vessels in orbit around Vulcan!" The Admiral said in an annoyed tone. "They could have taken you there in half the time!"
"But we needed to keep our movements quiet."
"I don't consider stealing the most expensive yacht in the Federation keeping things quiet. And Asa damned sure didn't keep things quiet. Especially after he found all his very expensive alcohol was gone."
"Hey!" Joshua stopped his mother with a grin. "There was nothing else to drink."
"Really?" She shot back. "The Lady Ann was the only private ship in the Federation at that time to have a replicator. You could have had anything you wanted."
"But those things will only replicate synthehol. I hate that stuff!"
"And speaking of Asa Mitchell," Nancy asked her son. "Just where is his grandson, Gavin?"
"He took Excalibur and two Republic Stardestroyers to search for the remains of King George V."
"Have they found it?"
"They found it five days ago," Joshua told her. "He said that sensor readings show the ship has been there for more than forty thousand years. They have yet to figure out how V'reenda's stasis tube remained powered that long. Ami said that they found no evidence of anyone else aboard. So they've taken out the computer core and had the Republic destroy the rest. They'll be here this afternoon. We'll see if they've been able to recover anything from it."
"Daddy?" Cynthia cut in quietly. "When are you coming back home?"
"We leave the day after tomorrow. As soon as the Imperial Ambassador arrives with his escort," Joshua Kirk smiled at his daughter, before continuing. "It's a two and a half day trip to the wormhole. And from there it's eight hours to Earth."
"Just in time for Christmas!" The girl said with a grin.
"And I can't wait."
"Are their ships going to be here long?" Nancy asked.
"They're coming to help in the search for the two missing Imperial ships. As soon as we find where Singhe's followers have them, they'll return home with them."
"Good. I don't like those defectives having access to those ships and their technology."
"My mother will be coming with little Boz here." Peenk said to the others. "So she's bringing three of her newest ships for protection, the Glory, Power, and Might."
"Those sound like military vessels," Nancy kirk muttered.
"They are," Corell Peenk said. "My family owns the galaxy's largest mercenary company."
"She's not coming here to look for business oportunities is she?" Nancy Kirk asked defensively.
"Yes. But not those kind. The family has wide ranging interests, not just security. Ship building, droids, entertainment."
"Well, those we don't care about. But we have too many mercenary companies here as it is," Glancing off to the side, she nodded to someone. "Well, I have to go. I'll see you in a few days."
