Description
Testing large ionic propulsion engines under space condition presents technical challenges. How to accommodate the propulsion jet? A solution is to let the ionic propulsion jet escape the test chamber through an ionic chimney; that chimney lets the jet going through without letting the atmospheric air entering through the chimney toward the vacuum inside the test chamber. It works somewhat like a siphon system.
