Description
One of the most intriguing characters in the Greek myths, Clytemnestra was the wife of king Agamemnon.
She is portrayed in different lights by various classical authors, but usually as a rather wicked character; an unfaithful wife who, with her lover, murdered her husband. In the best known version of the story, Aeschylus recounts that when Agamemnon returned after 10 years of campaigning, Clytemnestra killed him in his bath after entangling him in a cloth so he could not struggle. She was later murdered by her own son, Orestes (with the encouragement of his sister Electra) in revenge for his father.
I see her rather differently. Her first husband and son were killed by Agamemnon, who abused her and forced her to marry him. He later sacrificed their elder daugher Iphigenia to the Gods to further his obsessive war on Troy. Agamemnon was also unfaithful (notably he abducted Cassandra, daughter of the mudered Trojan king Priam, and brought her back with him from the war along with thier two children)...
...Lets just say, Clytemnestra had plenty of motive!
