Description
Castle of Vayres is located in the commune of Vayres, in the Gironde department, in France, about 25 km from the centre of Bordeaux. This medieval fortress is situated on the banks of the Dordogne which it dominates.
The castle of Vayres was remodelled in the Renaissance then in 1700.
His history is linked to that of the city of Bordeaux, which he has long been involved in protecting. It belonged to the Albret family until King Henry IV who sold it to an illustrious Bordeaux family, the Gourgue.
