Description

I was thrilled to bits to notice this on a pine log in my garden. Lycogala epidendrum, commonly known as wolf's milk, groening's slime is a cosmopolitan species of plasmodial slime mould which is often mistaken for a fungus. The aethalia, or fruiting bodies, occur either scattered or in groups on damp rotten wood, especially on large logs, These aethalia are small, pink to brown cushion-like globs. They may excrete a pink paste if the outer wall is broken before maturity. Very exciting! Another Here

Great info, Andrea. Although it doesn't look very tasty to me ;-). At first I thought it has something to do with one of your lovely group, lol. btw. What 'the hell' is going on on RR, can't find how to do an upload, everything is confused here, including me.

Interesting information and a terrific shot but why do I always seem to see these just before dinner?
