Description
May day demonstration / meeting on Lund town square, May 1, 2018.
On arriving in the center of town I saw this - the communists and socialists holding political speeches. There was no parade this year either. There have been violent confrontations between neo-nazis and reds in earlier years. Everything was calm today.
"Radhus" is the word for town council. "Tillsammans for Trygghet" translates "together for security". This can be well needed today since the chair of the Moderate Party (salary: 168,000:- per MONTH!) wants to put retired people off their pensions and out to work. I have come to understand why Sweden has such a large socialist / red phalanx, though I am not of a red inclination. The Moderates will most likely get a lot of retired folks voting either red or for the Sweden Democrats (they want to save money by closing out refugees). There are many retired folks in this photo.
There was also a well playing band playing socialist music. Some of the melodies are quite nice.
Enjoy. Swedish democracy in action. :-)
In fact, reminds me of Swiss town meetings and town votes, but Swedes vote in schools (usually).

Don't mess with the old timers or they will come after you.

Interesting photo and text. After the speeches the crowd took to the streets with riotous demonstrations.

Indeed - steal from the elderly who have paid into the system for their entire working lives, then wonder why radicals pop up, and people start talking about things like revolutions.
Same bunch of crooks running this country, too....

I don't know much about Swedish politics mate, but I know that people who have paid taxes all their bloody lives need looking after. Just my two cents.....

Good to see it was peaceful my friend. I agree with the other here, elderly people who have paid into the system for their entire working lives deserve a easy retirement. I don't trust any politicians, left or right, most are out for what they can get for themselves or it seems that way in this country.

so many companies here close shop in order to cause the senior employees to lose their retirement savings and then find a "buyer" to purchase the company and change the name slightly. A company I worked for years ago did that very thing to the long time employees . the same thing happened to me in the late 70's

They have these gatherings as well now in South Africa. Not that unions is of any use here in South Africa. Superb capture. God bless.
