Description
In the long trek towards the goal of effective carrier borne jet aircraft, the McDonnell Fh2 "Banshee" entered as the successor to the FH Phantom with about 895 units being produced. It was a single seat fighter/bomber with pressurized cockpit for high altitude flight, ejection seat, and folding wings to save carrier space. It was a major player in the Korean war, operating in fighter, bomber, and night fighter/recon roles during its tenure. It was successful in its role until the new Chinese swept wing Mig entered the arena, quickly overshadowing it and relegating it to mostly close ground support missions. The Banshee was used by both the US Navy and the USMC during its wartime service life.
Most excellent model of the "Banshee" offered generously for free on sharecg by the incomparable modeler Pedro Caparros. Thank you once again, Pedro.

Oh, another model from our industrious Pedro. Fantastic presentation. Well, it's the wrong carrier, but Essex are not available so far (why not?)...

I know, but the USS Yorktown is an Essex class carrier, so, not too far off! I think BeyondVR had an Essex available for free a long while back, but the Yorktown model has way more detail.
