Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Thanks for the peek in the trench. Your daily challenge sounds like fun. Remember when we used to do a lot of that in the forum here?

I hope they are able to finish the job faster than they do here. I saw this and was reminded of how Benny Hill used to joke about municipal workers. "Poor John. He fell off his shovel and compensation set in."

Looks like they have their work cut out for them.
Thanks for the inside view.

I like seeing into the trench. Makes me feel like I'm a bit of an insider!

both pics are fascinating, with the mix of lines and plunges etc. The trench shot looks like it was dug up without anyone's permission, like it's not supposed to be seen. This shot is fascinating for the long rows of green guard fences and those contrasting reds; and how they 'frame' the library. Love the low steep roof overhanging those windows right up to the eaves; FL Wright got some inspiration from that design, in the way he shoved his windows right up under his eaves; only, he'd never have high roofs like this; it's a beautiful library. Your angle really shows off the lines here.
(and the trench reminds me---don't ask why---about the discovery, some years back, of Richard III's body. Wasn't it discovered under a parking lot or something? And they weren't sure it was Richard? Well, I thought, maybe they'll find an early Henry here, or some early Aethelwulf or whoever. Say what you will about those dudes, they had names. Aethelbald, Aethelbert. Lotta Aethels...Beats the hell outa "Henry" and "John"...) (Aethel Merman?)

interesting captures - love Mark's take on the scenes and the variations on a theme that he dug up
