My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!
If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.
Thanks for your interest in my work, and for stopping by to learn more about me!

yes, this has a nostalgic "looking back in yearning" look. It also has a dark and sad feel. Which it should have for an image of war and loss. You 'fogged' over an already deep cavern; gave some of the mortar (in the bricks) a luminous cast, you made the cannon seem almost an apparition, and the surrounding wall seem like it was 'thought' on as well as built on. Very haunting image. These deep archways obviously call you, as you've done beautiful work with them every time...
(Good luck with flickr! I hope people notice you there. I'll go there one of these days soon...)

A very striking image. The filter work looks like fog or smoke from cannon fire. As a historian I believe there is only one term that can be used for the actions of the Confederacy - treason. Treason against the United States. And their beloved flag is the flag of treason. Even Robert E. Lee understood how divisive the myth of the noble "lost Cause" would be. He urged his troops to honor him by putting away their battle flags and once again embracing the United States and the cause their Northern brethren who fought for her. The real tragedy is that the vast majority of Southerners who fought and died owned no slaves. They were suckered into fighting by the 1% who warned of a loss of states rights and local sovereignty. Neither was ever in danger. Sorry to ramble on but I seldom get to exercise my history chops.

Interesting discussion Tara and you captured the mood well. But I also want to thank you for helping me again, and that was more than two months ago. So 'thank you.. And yes you got me figured out as far as noise and speed is concerned, at least for cars and airplanes.

I think you captured the feel perfectly, Tara. The dreamy quality of this gives us the feeling of peace and calm after the guns go silent, but reminds us that like the guns, the memory will always be part of our history.

it's interesting how, when you look at both viewpoints (North vs. South) the radical difference between the two as to how they view their participation. Even today we see this going on.
