Description

Walking down Jones Street in Savannah, Georgia. It's a row of historic homes and plenty of photo ops. Loads of fabulous architectural details. And a fire hydrant checking itself out in the reflective surface of this Jeep. :P .......... I've posted another two albums over at Flickr, for 2009 and 2010. So far I've got just under a hundred images over there, and I can tell you that posting there is easier than here, but they don't give you as many choices. I can post a whole batch of images at one time on Flickr, where here it's one at a time. The gallery orientation here is vertical, which is why, when you look at my image thumbnails, they've got black borders on two sides. That's to make the thumbs consistent so I don't have a mish-mash of images when you look at my gallery page. On Flickr, the orientation is horizontal. It looks nicer, but it's just as much of a pain in the patootie. If you've got an image that's tall and thin, it comes out really small, probably sandwiched between a couple of much larger images. So there's that. Lots of pros and cons to both places right now. For those of you who think I'm jumping ship ... Calm Down! I'm experimenting. I want to see what it's like at Flickr. I was here at Renderosity ten years ago when there were lots of people here and lots of good photography. If I posted something particularly excellent, I might get 60 or 70 comments. A ho-hum shot would still get more than 25. I'm not about numbers, but you must admit, that's a huge change! Time marches on, and all that. I'm just checking out my options.

This made me laugh so much ! I have often thought how much like little persons these are. and this is an affirmation.

I have commented so far on the first few of your uploads and sent you suggestions for joining relevant groups, where many like minded folk will see your pics. You will find you will have views even on one pic in the hundreds or even thousands on Flickr once you get going.

Great reflection. Someone really loves their Jeep. I'm with Andrea on this one. They always remind me of little people. Be very careful how you spell that word.

Well, he's got to make sure he looks good before someone comes along and sticks a hose in his belly! LOL A most delightful photo, Tara!

I'll have to pop over to Flickr, and have a look. I tried them (I think) some time ago, and never really did anything with it. I'll have to see if I still have an account there...

Yeah, I've seen a definite decrease in the number of folks who are active here. Some have just moved on to other things, or lost interest. Some have passed away, and many have been driven off by some of Rendo's 'revolutions.' Most of the stalwart members are still hanging in there, though. 😀

Love the name "Rubicon" (river in northeastern Italy) near a fire hydrant (water again).

First, ala the above, hydrants are little people. They just don't talk or move much. (Was there ever any doubt?) Love your concept: That, in this dark dark shot, you reveal a hydrant checking himself out in van chrome, thinking, "i am cooooool". Remember the old Carlin routine about checking yourself out in a store window? "I look cooooooool...." That's what I think of here. And "Wrangler" somehow complements the whole shot, as if the hydrant were thinking, "yeah...ahm a wrangler...ohhhh yeah..." Love the blast of light on the real hydrant. Fun and really well conceived shot, Tara. And with "Rubicon" on top, I think that he's got dreams of 'crossing the rubicon' (and finding new lands)...

I can recognize your shots from afar, which means you've developed a style of your own. Love the image, especially for the colors and compo.
