Description

These big plants, looking so gorgeous in bloom, but are so poisonous to touch are growing in a beautiful reclaimes area near my Childhood home, where both my sons are living. I cannot help loving these plants, for a nostalgic reason. They are having a hard time getting rid of them, but they found a good idea, which I will share, in my next upload. :)

They are majestic, such a shame they can be dangerous.

What a shame. Excellent recording of such a beautiful, but deadly, plant with those large leaves and their serrated edges.

They do look lovely, but it's too bad they are poisonous. I've been fighting poison ivy in my yard for years.

Cool photo, though.

First, a little etymology. (This is like when teachers did "slide shows" when you were a kid, and all the students hid under the desks...I'll make it short!) "Hogweed" was probably so-named because it was food for hogs. YOUR word---another Danish wild-word (to my uneducated ear): bjørneklo---I THINK means "bear claw". Yes? Am I close. (I looked up the parts of the word.) Well, if so, it makes sense given what these little monsters look like. Your shot has a 'sameness' to the leaves, so that they look like they go on forever. It has a very strong presence. And the grasses---lower right---are wonderfully sharp, and in relief. A big diagonal runs across the pic---sweet. And it's a sharp assault on the eye. So it kind of feels the way the leaves feel on the skin...I know what you mean by being nostalgic about it---we had this or something similar in the forest around me, as a kid. It hurt, and I got rashes, but I luuuuuved the leaves. A fine shot, Helle.

Hogweed is so beautiful, it's a shame we can't romp and play in it! :P
