Description

Hi, Honey, Yes, I'm taking care of the Edsel. Yes, I pull it onto the driveway and run it for 10 minutes every week. Yes, it's back in the garage. No, I don't drive it anywhere else. Yes, Julie took the picture with my camera. No, Bill wasn't with her. Yes, Yes, Yes, we can hardly wait for you to get home. Love, Your Pookie

Inspired by a picture mom sent dad during WWII.

Thanks. This one was fun. Mom always presented an accommodating 'front,' but trust me, she ruled the roost.

Truly delightful... With that hood ornament option I'm surprised it wasn't the best selling car in history... She's gorgeous!

I'm surprised, too. One of their problems was the available color schemes. This one is not stock color. The scallop would have been black with a white insert. True, with the oversize hood ornament, who would see the car color?

When I came across that picture, it was an OMG moment. Mom really did a pion-up for dad. I had to create something.

Funny thing about going through shoe boxes of scratched, water damaged family photos; everyone seems to know where to find the box of photos, but no one can find the negatives.

I've always like the look of those Edsels - there's just something cool about them! And the hood ornament on this one is just epic! A most delightful render, my friend! Love the photo of your mom, too!

The 1957-1959 Edsels are one of my all time favorite cars. Why did it fail? I have my own opinions. 1) The buying public was not ready for a retro look vertical grill. Old cars had vertical grills. 2) This was the advent of the jet age. During these three years, cars had tail fins, like JETS. The Edsel did not. 3) The Edsel was placed in a price range between Mercury and Lincoln. If you could afford an Edsel, you could afford a Lincoln. 4) The factory and dealers were firm on the color schemes. Each main body color had a pre determined pair of colors for the rear 'scallop.' NO exceptions.

That photo of mom was the 'find' of last weekend. (Quite out of character from the mom I knew.) But, I was born shortly thereafter. I had to do something.
