Description
This is an example of a failed dome lighting image. I made 3 renders, each one took hours and the domes I tried all failed. One came with the scene, one was a product I bought at DAZ, and the final one was one from a different scene. They all came out almost completely black so I finally added a spotlight and again the background was not visible at all so I added a distant light and this is all I could get out of it. There are trees, skulls and bones in the water, a boat behind a huge stone prop with a lizard in front of it, more creatures sneaking up from the right but none are visible. The image itself is grainy so I finally just gave up. Maybe someone can tell me why none of the domes worked. Also I couldn't get the sunlight to face the main character when I rotated the domes. Ugh!

Hey, still a very good image! I like it! If you render with Iray - are you sure you are not rendering an 3delight dome? (Maybe a stupid question, but I did in the past and wondered why everything was black.)

I know for certain that 2 of the domes I tried were IRAY lol, I'm not sure about the last one I tried but I'll check. Thanks!

She's delightful...its a shame we can't see the rest of the scene... I don't know how Daz Studieo works, but in Poser there are "Universal" lights which illuminate a scene evenly from a specific direction (just like the sun would). I generally base my lighting around them.

Sometimes, I have problems with the light too; the lighting settings in Bryce I find much better!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it is still a fantastic image!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow - I love the image, but I'm a bit baffled at the lack of light from the domes... I've not been using DS for long, so I'm trying to work out the lighting as well, but this is puzzling... I may have to mess with DS this weekend and see if I can replicate this...
The image still has an air of mystery and menace - as if she's illuminated by a flashlight with the creatures barely visible as they approach.

Well I am sure you guys remember my most recent, "look into my eyes..." the grainy result...I myself am not sure I know enough about domes yet so i am lost myself...but, even though Ax, "Badlands After Dark," I thought that this render was still an excellent Picture even though it didn't turn out the way you had hoped. When you think about it..it is dark and the lighting in my opinion is telling the story just barely exposing the truth in the scene in the shadows...regardless my friend...EXCELLENT!
