Description
This is my kitty, Onyx, I rescued her eight years ago. Her great loves were standing up to indicate she expected a treat, and lounging around in boxes. I often threatened to ship her out, which didn't concern her in the least. This morning she went on her final journey, after 14 years on Earth. Miss her already, too many empty boxes waiting for her to fill them.

Fourteen years is a good run. Our last two got to about 20 and about 19 years respectively. Our present rescue moggie (age 7) has his own box too )see my gallery), like your Onyx. A lovely cat and clearly well-loved. Thank you for sharing this picture.

Thank you, Kitties are very photogenic... when they want to be.photographed.

Never met one that didn't love one. Lovely cat. Last i read: a home without a cat is only a house. Beautiful picture.

Funny my roommate's cat distains boxes in favor of being dangerously close to the wheels of rolling chairs.
misumu
Thank you.

What a beautiful she was! I' m very sorry to read that you lost your beloved Onyx. I know only too well what it is like, when one of those precious "troublemakers" suddenly is missing since I went through this already a few times. Though I always had several cats at the same time, and it never really got totally silent, when one went on the final journey, it was always a big hole remaining in my heart. Every of those unique souls has its character, its habbits and its rituals which are suddenly painfully missed. Though it might not be the time yet, open your home and your heart to a new cat one day, it will be worth it a thousand times. I'm with you and Onyx in my thoughts.

Thank you for your kind words, There is still my roommate's cat, but she looks for Onyx and meows when she wants someone to tussle with.

Oh I am in tears --- our black cat Bear passed two years ago and I still miss her daily.
I concur with Furnose.
May your beloved Onyx rest in peace after fourteen years of your tender loving care here on earth.
misumu
Thank you, I didn't cry at first, but my sister for an unrelated reason sent a hug out on Facebook for anyone who needed it, and I burst into tears. But lots of smiles too, she was a good cat.

She is so cute. I am so sorry about your loss. I just lost my cat Boo a few weeks ago. He was 22 years old. It is really hard getting use to him not being around. If you ever want to chat, hit me up
misumu
22 years, my condolences, there is a point where it feels they will be around forever, and maybe in their own way they still are.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. She was a beautiful cat and sounds like a lot of company. She reminds me of a cat we had years ago.
misumu
My friend likes to jest that cats work many jobs (my earlier cat Taipan seemed to be seen in many of a window not mine), I like to think we are all sharing the same cats, and after a while they move on to someone who needs them more..

Im very sorry for your empty box. Been through this my self. I know how hard it is after 14 great years. Thank you for showing your friend to us. Great photo.
misumu
My pleasure, Onyx is no longer my cat a lone, I hoped others can enjoy her image.

I'm really sorry for you loss! It is amazing how we get so attached to our furry friends. They steal our hearts.
I still have an empty hole in my heart from my dear Diamond. She was a black cat very similar to yours. I never thought we could replace her and we never will, but as God is my witness, another little black kitty entered my wife's and my lives a couple weeks ago. She was at the neighbors looking for one of our other house cats we were afraid had gotten out. The neighbor showed Mary this one and she made the mistake of petting it. The neighbor closed the the door to retire for the day. The kittens were allowed to stay outside with their mothers.
Well, Mary walked back home up the alley three houses to where we live and who should be tagging along at her heels but little Bright Eyes. He is just the cutest little devil and I wouldn't believe it but he has already filled our lives with so much joy and delight I can't fully appreciate it enough or describe it here.
But as the old saying goes, when one door closes, perhaps, if you are lucky, another one opens and there is a happy surprise on the other side. We had to say goodbye to Diamond a year ago in February. She is still missed immensely. But little Bright Eyes is certainly writing new chapters for us in the enjoyment department!

Thanks for the kind words, kitties have a way of working their way into you heart.
