Description

For this specific image I've decided to post on different date. Well, another year has gone. Are you better? Are we all getting better? I do not think so! The title of the artwork can be translated as: The Path to the Isle of the Dead. You can see the path and the planet Earth that is going there. And there is a reason about. The question at the beginning and the picture are strictly related. On other occasions I have spoken about people, the human kind, and the dangerous choices we are making. But there is more: our choices also have consequences along the world - our only home, let's not forget it - where we live, and these turn back against us. This is not new. I'm not the first and only one to say that. So why does the situation get worse with every passing year? Why do we continue to make mistakes? Our politicians talk to us about the economy, enemies, security and more; THEY use the resources produced by OUR work for weapons, economic and social domination, to attack the planet in the frantic search for natural resources... and all this for what? I repeat: Are you better? Are we all getting better? Year by year, the oligarchies are better, the rest of the world and the people, less. A singular incidence, too systematic, I think. Why still believe their words? Why allow us to use OUR work for THEIR profit. Why can't our work ever make us all feel a little better? Do you find it logical to pollute the land where we grow the food we eat and the waters we drink? And all this for profit? And of whom? Ours, certainly not! What will we feed our children: money? Yet we have less and less of it. We eat worse and at higher and higher costs. Ask yourselves that water comes into your house, remember the words of politicians, television and the neighbor, then And look your children in the face. What do you have to say at this point? Everyone will say, but what can I do about it? We are all responsible for our choices, but they must be ours and aware of them. Forget to listen to the words of those who are better than you, the privileged ones who want to remain such. Choose and support only the choices that will make our children live better. Give them a better world. Someone once said: Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed! And this one was not just anyone but Mahatma Gandhi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahatma_Gandhi), however you think a man who has made history. The world is not our private property. Whether you are religious or not, something or someone has given us life, has lent us the world to live on, but it is not our. The world was there before us and it will still be there when we will no longer be there. Then we have to pass it on to those who will come after us. And they will not thank us or love us for how we leave them! Those who force us to do harm to ourselves, to our children, to the world, are just men, like us, not gods, they are few and must use social, economic and often even physical violence to do so. Remember it! It is not to them that we must obey and be responsible for what we do. I believe that we have accumulated a heavy 'debt of the soul'. Those who have gone before us, have built with pain and effort, our so-called civilization. Those who come after us, will inherit a disfigured world and a degenerate civilization. What should Mother Nature or God (according to how you think about it) do about us at this point? I do not have an answer to that. But I'm afraid of what it might be. I am a resolute person but I do not trample on the life and souls of others. Yet, around me, I keep seeing people who do it. And I wonder how they are not afraid of what will come, if we persevere. Where is the world going and all of us? Technical note. The Island of the Dead is a theme widely used in literature and art, starting with the famous painting by Arnold Böcklin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold_Böcklin and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_the_Dead_(painting) I also wanted to do would be inspired. For my artwork I used a classic photograph of the Greek island of Pontikonisi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontikonisi), which Böcklin himself would have inspired.

Hello my friend, indeed another year has passed and the more they pile up the more I fear for our existence. Fearing for our Mother Home and governments greed in Raping her, also for those same governors influenced by The Beast in full compliance in Raping their own Peoples and forsaking their own Countries. I just Hope I do not outlive this Earth, the powers that be should Remember "Karma is a Biatch" what goes around-comes around.

Superb imagery the message is crystal clear

This song is truer now than in 1965

This is powerful image and statement on a personal note I'm not in better than place than I was last year but thanks to friends and family I persevere. I agree with the factors that are putting are planet and society down this dark path. To many think about the here and now and not the future. One thing I noticed in fiction there is a common thing. Let's see you have a great evil you have a bunch of people come to together and they imprison it not destroy it. So basically when they're long and gone they've left something for their children or children's children to deal with it.

Well said my friend Mahtma Ghandi also said " If man applied Jesus Christ's sermon on the mount we shall not only solve our own problems But all the worlds too" and he was devout Hindu. We should treat people they way we want to be treated if we seriously did that the world would be a safer place to live, BTW Wilma your whole production was superb my friend thanx indeed!!

I enjoyed looking at your work and words, which are so true. I learned in my youth to keep and take care for everything around. Nature, people and everything around had its value in live. I sometimes say: "we grow the way we are feed with food and thoughts". But who will teach us. Because of people needing a double job or work both children don't get those values, because in the morning we are in hurry and in time we come back the children need to go to bed again. That is why I love your words to your art. Telling us something more! We want to let our children inherit our planet and in between pollute it that there is no way to give them a home. It is greed and rich at the top and poorness on the other side. I often wonder why there is so many cancer in the world, while in the sixties no one was heart about it. Thanks writing your message, because some will read and learn ;)

Impressiona a concepção e a arte minha amiga, traduz junto com o texto esta icógnita que somos nós, capaz de construir bombas que só servem para destruir nosso mundo, a custos elevados que poderiam salvar o planete. Brilhante. Aplausos (5) It impresses the conception and the art my friend, translates with the text this icógnita that we are, able to construct bombs that only serve to destroy our world, at high costs that could save the planet. Bright. Applause (5)

it's so good to see your work again. this image and your words are right on target. earth is on a sad path. I see you have the angel of death patiently waiting while the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. the world around us slowly (or not so slowly) dies and the rich don't care and the poor have little means to change it. everything is so sad and frustrating. I'm sorry for the future children. be well and stay strong. ((hugs))

Most illuminated text and artwork! You are truly inspired with the correct words to describe the state we have allowed our life blood to degenerate to! I can only blame myself for my part in allowing this fiasco to continue by my lethargy! I will strive to do better in the future. Thank you for your inspiration! May the universal powers be with you always and everywhere!

Amen!!! I think the man has jumped onto the crazy train to hell but they seem to be in an awful hurry to get there, leaving waste as they speed along. I don’t think it’s going to get for awhile if at all, at this point we have to hang on to be strong and hope, always hope!!!🙁

Wonderful image you've created and such an important message...I worry about our beautiful Earth all the time...we keep plundering and defiling her all for the sake of greed and power...humans simply cannot control that greed factor. Man will cut down the last tree, kill that last bear, poison the entire earth and then say "What happened." Each and every human has a responsibility to carry their share to keep our home clean and livable for all creatures. Also, we must make certain that the best individuals are selected to be our leaders...no more Trumps!!!
