Description

Greetings, Back from trek to Museum of the United States Air Force (again). Nearly 2,000 photos taken, 4 days spent there, worn out! Once more, I shall try (ha! yeah right...), to show aircraft in order of walk around. Since last visit, some have been removed (stored), and many more put on show. An entire hanger full, the biggest yet! Anyway on with the show. This was the second military aircraft purchased by the then, US Army Signals Corp. They bought five. This is a replica but does a few original parts built into the body. Top speed a mighty 50mph. I used two cameras here, it seems my big one does not like indoor shoots, unless well lit. This was taken with the small one. Planning next trip....Washington maybe? Rob

As a veteran of the United States Army Signal Corp, I give this Glenn Curtiss image a huge thumbs up. Of course, when I was in the Corp, we had mostly nothing to do with aircraft of any sort. It was land based radio and its derivative.

Great shot, Rob. It's what my granddad would call a "rickety affair." Amazing what the first planes looked like.

Alexander Graham Bell might have had something to do with early aeronautics and the Signal Corps. My father taught code for the Signal Corps after training at Scott Army Airfield.
