Captured 4/23/08.
Bet you thought I would never reach the BIG FIVE OH OH with my rose photos, but I have plenty left in my files to be displayed. Maybe I'll take a hiatus from the roses and post pics of other flowers, which I have plenty of.

I saw the big 500 when you posted it, and I'm with rod that all your flower photos are lovely...I never tire of them, ever. This one has so much texture in the frontmost petals (where the mini-creases are most visible); and so much variety in hue---from dark red-pinks to light pinks, to almost orange pinks, and creamy undertones throughout, in the whites as well as in the pinks. You caught a few raindrops to give it surprises; and the tilt---just enough to reveal its upper petals---is modest, and allows a lot of light to grace the flower. Also, you gave us a very dark background, in which the greens make wonderful contrast. And it's another perfect close crop, allowing the rose to 'star'. Gorgeous rose shooting. And it's notable that, because of the age of many of these shots, you've been doing this quality for a number of years now. They just don't age. Beautiful work on all levels.
Harry I'm at an hour, and I'll be back another time before taking another break. But I think I did 12 tonight (something like that). It's always a pleasure, and I'll try to get to some of the images I skipped over. Hope it's getting cooler where you are...you/ve had some unbearably long hot seasons...I don't know how you and so many others handle it...take care of yourself out there, good sir. I follow every upload of yours, and it's always a pleasure to sit and comment on them after so many weeks...
