Close. But Albert Einstein almost always had a smile in his eyes. His other expression was an hopeful curiosity.

Boy was I surprised to see this go up a month or so ago. I had never seen any of your figure drawing, portraiture, and so on. I think you got Einstein's essence, at least as the world saw him; the soft, deep basset-hound drooping eyes, the natural frown lines (in his face), the big protruding mustache, the somewhat sad or at least fatigued look, as if peering into the cosmos had taken a toll on him. I don't agree with the commenter above (though I respect the comment) that Einstein always had a smile in his eyes. Sometimes his face could look like a sad hound, patiently awaiting his master to assuage his sadness. Really good to see these portraits from you. And apparently some of them go way back...(and, here, a good use of dark yellows and brownish tones)
