Description
I mentioned my knowledge in automation and robotics on one of my first postings of the series Oulieva (see 002-Presenting Oulieva, the Vlad Slavebot; second).
Indeed, I have worked on a prototype of the vision's function for an underground mine vehicle. It is known as an LHD for Load Haul and Dump machine. Another engineers worked on the automated steering and driving aspect of such vehicle. That was about 27 or 28 years ago; the Stone Age in robotics. It worked very well. I like machines; the weirder, the better.
This is a close up emphasizing the camera used for the vision system. During his hauling phase, this machine transport its load along a tunnel (a gallery). The machine is guided by a retro-reflector tape installed on the ceiling of the gallery.
