Description

Up one level and directly over the Veranda, we take a look aft. This is just behind the swimming pool and only now do I notice the ship's bell and .... I cannot believe the state of it! Gott in Himmel und Cheese und Krackers! Get someone back here with a can of Brasso -- STAT! The bell is the voice of the ship and it should not be presented in such slovenly manner! Oj vhey! Well, what a surprise that was. All I was really after was the flags spelling out SAVANNAH for the grandson of a friend. The little bugger has taken an interest in maritime flags and Morse code. I suppose there is hope for the coming generation. Anyhow, the sightseers out there may be interested to know that we are looking about due south. The big smoke stacks are from a coal-fired power plant and before the anti-coal coalition (Hee hee, do the realize it's COALition?) get on me; I'm from PA coal country originally. I also believe we need a hierarchy of energy and that coal plays an important in/out role as national interests dictate. So, the power plant is not evil. The ship we are on was nuclear powered and it had diesel back up. Enough to maintain steerage and environmental power. If you can get the image big enough, you can read the equally slovenly plaque behind the bell. (Excuse me while I look for some medicinal booze. Seeing all that verdigris and verdinoir is giving me a migraine.) Enjoy; thanks for viewing. (Pass bottle, lass; I'm hurtin'.)

You're right, that bell looks very "weathered". Nice tour so far, thanks for sharing.

If you hadn't pointed the bell out I could have missed it. Great shot.
