Description

(please zoom, it's pretty whacko...) Ok: I wanted to do a crazy tale for Sir Rod, but I can't do that now (my arm and physical therapy etc). So instead, I did a quiet, calm, unobtrusive image. (Yeah right.) See, Rod sends his TNA heroines to all kinds of crazy places and they get into every imaginable situation, so I decided to evoke that feeling in my art---even though there's absolutely nothing here that resembles Rod's art. BUT! Rod's a far out, creative and very illumined guy, so that's my connection and I'm stickin' to it. Ok! (I'm writing this in 3 sittings ((for my arm)), and this is the "formal dedi" part): I think Rod is one of the nicest, most supportive, most up and inspiring people around. And we all know his mastery of 3D and pinups, and all the things he does with his now-famous models (even the way he clothes them!), and his tales and writing, and also his photography---let's not forget, even though he hasn't posted as much of it lately (it's sweeping, big and beautiful...whoosh...) And his kindness, sense of humor and the love he pours all over the place. And he never forgot how to be dazzled, delighted and gleeful, like a big terrific kid. That adds up to a terrific soul! Oh yeah, he's got a lab 4000 feet under the earth---we call it NORAD East---with 2 million insulators and god-knows-what, which has been rebuilt 2 million times since the Fall of Rome, and where he's building a ship that will fly to Alpha Centauri in under 10 seconds. "You might get a little whiplash, but it's fast," he says. I don't wanna know what he's got down there, but if there's ever a computer shortage, you'll know where to turn... Happy 70th, Rod! If I were at that dinner last night, you'd have TWO bald guys at the table! (Hair's overrated!) I wish you tons more joy, inspiration and love from all sides--you deserve it all. A big happy birthday, and many, many more, w/ blasts of sunlight every day of your life---hope your day was splendiferous!!! mark (I'll start commenting tonight...they'll be briefer, but I'll get to you all!) ------------------

I totally agree with you about what you wrote about Rod. He is definitely one of the most supportive artist here and also one of the most creative. Splendid dedication to him.

Great description of a most caring and wonderful guy. the images above absolutely fit in line with how his mind works. He also has a wicked and fun sense of humour that shows up in his stories. Happy Birthday Rod.

ps if I had been there as well, there would have been three bald guys.

Yep - that's pretty much how things look after my third cup of coffee! And no, I'm not tellin' ya what else is in the coffee! LOL

I love those bright, colorful, and fun images, Mark! You can't help but smile when you see these - so delightful! You've been hanging out with Peter Max again, haven't you? LOL

Thank you for the wonderful words, buddy! The only problem is now I can't get my head through the doorway... So I guess I'll just sit down here in the command and control center and count my insulators . Again. All 2 million of them. I can't understand where they keep coming from.... I started with 20 of the damn things, now I have 2 million of 'em? They're like rabbits.

Well, I guess I'd better get back to work on that ship. I still need to do a little tuning on the hyperspace drive.... Oh, and the food replicator too..... Everything tastes like freakin' chicken. Except the chicken. Now, where the heck did I put that ship?? It was here Thursday... Oh, that's right... I let Rico take it out for a test drive.... LOL

Thank you so much, Mark!

Wow! Feel like I'm on a Timothy leary trip this is so cool and wild, Mark. I can visualize walking in one of those old 70's black light poster shops and viewing this. Superb manipulation on your photo my friend. That spot thing draws you in. What a pleasently done dedi for our friend Rod. Already seen his comment.

And you have great words and heart my friend. There are very, very few like you. God bless Hope you get better.

You wanna know how crazy my life has been lately? When I saw your dedi, I had a moment of panic. “Did I remember to wish Rod a happy birthday? I know it’s on my calendar, I couldn’t have forgotten.” When you mentioned “that dinner” at the end, I breathed a sigh of relief. “Oh yeah! We went out to dinner for his birthday, just like we do every year.” Man, am I f**ked up, or what?
