had to come back for more of your portraits (before I step away for another few weeks)...you have an almost de Kooning quality in sketches like this, that forceful almost flat perspective and the heavy rushed-feeling strokes, and the way the face almost confronts us. Powerful stuff, with a multi-colored background, as if it's expressing the moods of this person. Those heavy blacks for his eyes and in a few other places really bring him into our space with a bang. There's introspection in your choices. Powerful stuff, Steve.
